NEW COLLECTION  ART CLOUT

As the first exhibition in 2020, Yangpyeong Art Museum will hold Art Clout - Values of New Collections in the whole venues of the museum from February 28 to May 31, 2020 with the major collections collected from 2017 to 2019.

The exhibition is 2020 Art Trip-1, Art Clout - new collections for spring project. This exhibition is an opportunity to exhibit all the art collections collected in the past 3 years as the policy of collectibles in Yangpyeong Art Museum that develops the differentiated strategies applying the local characteristics upon complementing two arts including Korean and Yangpyeong Arts.

This exhibition provides with a total of 79 artworks from 79 artists including Woo Seol Lee, Dong Hwan Bae and Kang Yong Kim who work in the region.

Generally, pure aesthetics are the artworks that are started from numerous dots by the artists’ hands, made to planes and visualized as a beauty of nature with the three-dimensional structure from these planes. Artists’ creativity developed from the outcomes of observations in life and nature with their sense of beauty demonstrates synchronism putting the beautiful and ideal nature on the subjective inner side, which is called as value aesthetics. New collection artworks collected with these two aesthetic values are gathered in one place, implicating and harmonizing the stories that are caused upon occurrences of forms in one space and overlapping the geometric types as the balance and order.

These artworks collected for the past 3 years by the museum are from a variety of artists who are working in the region from senior to junior artists, and these will show the unique arts with plane artworks containing ordinally objects and organic and splendid three-dimensional artworks. Especially, they contain sense of beauty to remind of monochrome paintings, relieves, or sculptures, and multiple artworks are exhibited with three-dimensional casting ones involving the rules of nature to be generated, continued and disappeared according to the principle of original forms on the arithmetic and geometric objects. Artworks that show deep thinking together with condensability are varied as if we see the faces with the concept of the modern society.

There are artworks to show the distorted essence of nature selected by human-beings and those to demonstrate seamless cycling order of nature from limited life to the unlimited return expressing human life and time as the artistic language by interaction with space. Also, meaning of existence is understood by immanence of ordinary objet in the visual and materialistic aspects, and artistic inspiration with pathos adds intuition meaning emotional appeal and sympathy with restrained beauty. These artworks contain the homing instinct to the nature aiming the pure life assimilated with nature by demonstrating the physical properties of soil in the agricultural culture. Unrealistically transcribed artworks show the beauty of delicate and gentle nature with soft and mysterious colors. As such, life of earth contains the positiveness, metaphor of light, and meaning of existence to grow in the nature, which adds the values of collections.

As a result, this exhibition will be an opportunity that Yangpyeong Art Museum revisits the artistic values of collections collected in the past 3 years and sets a new milestone to which the museum should move forward.

Yangpyeong Art Museum is a place to introduce the differentiated artworks, regularly, to show the symbolism of contemporary arts and essence of creative arts which can be a barometer as a local brand. Amid the trend of contemporary art that multiple types of artworks coexist, they show arts of Yangpyeong has been positioned as a mainstream at the times.

Through the exhibition, I hope the collections with the characteristics of contemporary arts will be remained for a long time as the aesthetic and cultural heritages at the times and it will be the exhibition to sympathize and communicate with citizens and general public on the values of collections.
